Fredrik Rasten

Fredrik Rasten is guitarist and composer who is primarily focused on rational harmony and its related acoustic phenomena. Within his research, Rasten is distinct, inventive, compelling, and sometimes playful. To get a grasp: in Six Moving Guitars (2019) he intersects choreography and sound by having three musicians and three dancers move in specific patterns while strumming their justly tuned guitars, where motion directly shapes the acoustic experience. Or, in Lineaments (2023) he zooms in on the fine-grained intonations of tones and their timbral changes by use of string plucking, humming voice, sine waves and metal chains. On October 9th, Rasten will perform an acoustic iteration of Murmuration and Stasis (2025), released on Moving Furniture Records.
